TIME CODE CARDS PRODUCT
DESCRIPTION

The TEAC Time Code Option Card series offers customers more capability and flexibility than ever before in video recording. Now you can insert time, date, and ID on the actual video tape for a permanent record of events or later synchronizing with related events. While this requirement has traditionally been a test facility function, operational users are now asking to know when things happened and to synchronize playback of multiple tapes. The Time Option Card Series gives time insertion capability without the traditional "extra box", because it installs right in the TEAC Airborne Video Tape Recorder.

The reference of the time code source is an important choice and can vary with the installation. TEAC's Time Code Cards give you more choices using Control Center Software:

  • Internal Clock - ZULU time based on an user program model "on-chip" clock.
  • GPS - Simply feed the video recorder an RS-422 or RS-232 signal from a GPS receiver (most models supported).
  • IRIG-input a standard IRIG-B signal to the recorder.

The type of time insertion is also your option. TEAC offers two distinct Time Code insertion options to meet a variety of needs:

  • On-screen inserter (OSI) Version displays time, Julian date, and idenification, plus more. Adjustments to size, position and level of the on-screen display are provided via an RS-232 input (software provided).

The TEAC Time Option Card Series offers solutions for every customer.

  • Internal to V-80/82/83
  • Choice of GPS, IRIG, or Internal Clocks
  • ID Bits Allow Positive Tape Location
  • On-Screen or Off-Screen
  • No External Boxes
  • Battery Backup Option

VTC Series - Video Time Converters
This series of Time Code Cards accepts customer provided time sources such as IRIG-B, RS-232 (GPS), or RS-422 (GPS) and converts these standard aircraft time sources to the video industry standard Vertical Interval Time Code (VITC). The customer may select the desired input using control software provided. The VITC is inserted on unseen video lines (typically 16-18) and may be read by Broadcast or Commercial VITC readers. The VITC time may also be used by synchronizing systems, such as TEAC's CATS, to allow playback synchronization of multiple tapes. Only one VTC Series card is needed to insert VITC into up to 3 recording decks of a TEAC Hi-8mm Series AVTR. Both NTSC and PAL formats are supported.

OSI and POS Series - On-Screen Inserters
(On Screen Inserters)
This series of Time Option Cards accepts customer provided time sources such as IRIG-B, RS-232 (GPS), RS-422 (GPS), or an internal clock (POS Series) and writes time information directly into the video image for easy viewing on the screen. On the OSI card an RS-232 programmable input allows the user to also write additional lines of alpha-numeric data to the screen. Both the RS-422 and RS-232 inputs are available on existing pins of the V-80 or V-83 Series AVTR™ recorders. The OSI Series can insert time and unique customer programmed messages independently on each recording deck of the V-83 AVTR™ using only the one card. Both NTSC and PAL versions of the OSI and POS Series are available.
